GACC Startup and Entrepreneur Program in New York and Silicon Valley

"Silicon (V)Alley – The place to be for growing startups."

The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. in New York has promoted commerce between Germany and the U.S. for almost 70 years. During this time we have established ourselves as a modern service provider and a reliable partner in German-American business inquiries.

Our Startup & Entrepreneur Program offers German startups valuable assistance in finding U.S.-VC investors, meeting U.S. clients and provides workshops on all U.S. market entry topics. Starting March 2017, we are offering this program also in the Silicon Valley: STEP SV

Depending on the program you choose, you will have the chance to meet with business angels and venture capital investors in New York or Silicon Valley, gain practical U.S. business experience, and qualify for the German Accelerator New York.

Getting Around NYC

We will do a lot of travel on the subway, so everyone will be required to purchase an subway metro card. We recommend purchasing the 1-week unlimited pass for $25. The most important thing, though, is to travel safely and watch out for our crazy taxi drivers!

Traveling from the Airport to NYC

To get to and from the airport, we suggest that you utilize the Carmel Limo service. You can reserve rides either at carmellimo.com or by calling (212) 666-6666. They are the same price as a yellow cab but much more reliable.

Subway

The subway is the best way to get around the city! We strongly recommend that you purchase the “7-day Unlimited Pass” which costs about $30. Please purchase this before Monday since we will be traveling via subway throughout the entire week. They can be purchased at any subway stop at any time of day, but we suggest that you get it at Union Square before our Meet and Greet on Sunday! -List of great free NYC subway Apps-

1. NYC Subway

2. Embark NYC

Taxi

Taxis are the most expensive mode of transportation in NYC. A trip of around 20 blocks may cost up to $10+. Tipping is required most of the time, so if your fare is over $10, consider tipping $1-$2 on top of the fare. There are two types of taxis, the famous yellow cabs and black taxis. Around 4-5pm, yellow cabs are unavailable so black cabs are the substitute. They are not illegal but be sure to negotiate a reasonable price before you hop on!

Testimonials

Stefanie Reimann-Dubbers - CEO - www.moveguard.de

"After having been an active in the German startup environment for the last 4 years, taking part in the GACC NY’s STEP program was one of the most encouraging, vibrant and enjoyable weeks as „little“ grown Startup. Everyone at the GACC was trying to really help us understand the difference between German mentality and American business behavior. In relevant workshops, strategy sessions and amazing company insights we got excellent information on how to make our first moves on the US market. My STEP experience was also very successful due to a superb group of 10 young companies with different backgrounds from all over Germany!"

Dr. Michael Tal - Co-CEO - www.busylamp.com

"STEP NYC is an amazing experience. Do not hesitate, if you have the chance to participate. Through the program we could significantly expand our network and even met people who eventually helped us close a high volume deal with one of the most renowned U.S. companies."

Johannes Herzer - CEO - www.nightadvisor.com

"STEP NYC has helped us to better understand the American Startup industry. During the 5-day program in Manhattan we were able to establish a network of interesting VC-investors, successfully established startups and legal and marketing experts in New York that will help us take our first step into the American market in the near future."
